Calhoun Liberty Hospital receives Top 100 award for critical access

CALHOUN COUNTY, Fla. (WMBB) — For the first time, the Calhoun Liberty Hospital is being recognized as a Top 100 Critical Access hospital.

The Chartis Center for Rural Health recognizes hospitals based on the results from the hospital performance index. It’s a comprehensive assessment of the entire performance of the hospital.

Calhoun Liberty officials said this recognition is a testament to their hard work and overcoming the challenges after Hurricane Michael.

“They were 25 beds down to now ten-bed critical access facility but very very great job from the team just being able to show resiliency through those challenges and maintain quality of care for the patients here in the community,” Calhoun Liberty Hospital CEO Emily Brown said.

Construction is underway for a new hospital right now.

Brown said when complete the quality of care will be even better for patients.
